In March 2013, our precious 6 year old daughter Mia, was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1). As you can imagine, this cruel life-long autoimmune disease changed our lives dramatically. Mia is now on 5 insulin injections every day and countless finger pricks, to help manage her blood glucose levels. We couldn't be prouder of Mia for her continued bravery, strength and courage. She truly is our little ray of sunshine. At the same time, we wish for nothing more than to find a cure.
My decision to enter the Big Red Run (www.bigredrun.com.au) was based on the fact that donations go directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). I am committed to the gruelling 250km/6 day/Simpson Desert event, to raise funds to hopefully make Mia’s life and the 120,000+ other Australians living with Type 1 Diabetes, a little easier.
I have paid the entry fees for the event myself, so your entire donation will go directly to JDRF. Your support and generous donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ryan.
